Henri Smit │CEO
After the completion of his degree and post certificate in education at the University of Stellenbosch, Henri Smit started off his career as a teacher. However, 1994 saw him turn his attention towards table grapes when he accepted the position of Production Manager on a farm near the Orange River. Four years later, the Namibian native shifted his focus to fresh produce marketing.

Today, Henri is a well-conditioned and successful marketer that spends his days promoting produce. His nights are reserved for his other great passion: rugby coaching.
Mario Grobler │COO
Aside from being a true asset to Rainbow Export thanks to his 20 years of senior-level Corporate and Law experience, Mario Grobler has been an avid table grape grower for nearly 10 years. He holds both an MBA and LLB degree, amongst others. With his broad field of knowledge, it comes as no surprise that he has led various other companies to reach great heights. You can rest assured: you are in great hands when working with Mario.

Mario is responsible for the corporate governance, financial, HR, and strategic growth of the company. He also leads the staff component and services clients and growers alike. A true stalwart, Mario is known to be honest, diligent, transparent and fair.
Hercules Myburgh | Head: Marketing
After his studies, Hercules joined a company in Botswana where he did organizational development and training in the Agriculture and Construction sectors. After getting married he moved back to South Africa where he started a company called YBM.

During the period of 1997, with deregulation on the horizon, he found himself on the board of a farm in the Hex. The board members asked him to investigate the possibilities for export, so himself, two farmers from the Hex and two farmers from the Orange River went to France, UK and Hollard. After his visit and seeing the opportunities he decided, after 12 years, to sell his shares in YBM and move into the Export Business.

After 24 years in the industry, he was privileged to be part of marketing teams that specialized in USA, Canada, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Bangladesh, Russia, the whole of Europe and the Middle East. He was also very privileged to be part of the FPEF, CGA and SATI from the start and being able to see how the industry matured.

Hercules believes that the Fresh Produce Industry is in your blood, and I feel the same about horses. His approach with horses is also the same as with the Fresh Produce Industry, it is not a 100-meter race but a long endurance race during which you need to build trust between suppliers and customers.
Petrus le Roux | Financial Manager
Petrus started his career in 2008 at a small auditing firm after completing his degree in Cost and Management Account through CPUT. While working at the auditing firm he continued his studies by completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Taxation through UNISA. During his 11 years at the financial services company he assisted various agricultural companies across South Africa with the setup or expansion of their production facilities, plantations and infrastructure. This is where his passion started for the table grape, citrus and wine industry. With a strong financial background and a wide set of skills we welcomed Petrus with open arms when he decided to focus all his time and energy on one company.
